No snow, but a blanket of fog.

"Our joy will be genuine only when it no longer depends on things that can be stripped from us and destroyed and when it has its basis rather in those innermost depths of our existence which no worldly power can take from us. Every external loss should turn us back to these innermost depths and better dispose us for our true life. . . The world is not a futile confusion of drudgery and pain, for all the distress the world contains is supported in the arms of merciful love; it is caught up in the forgiving and saving graciousness of our God."

That's as white as it gets here, too. But it has its advantages, doesn't it? :^)
Dear Emily,
And where I am, it takes the form of Ibis and Egrets flocking in the trees, they loom in the headlights and glow in the sunsets in such a way that they look like deliberate ornaments--lovely.
You're pictures here looked like my morning. I'm not on the Gulf Coast, but boy, it sure looks similar.
shalom,
Steven
This fog must be covering the entire southern half of the US. My husband tried to get to VA for a day and a half, but was delayed because of this haze.
Can you see the group of cormorants and one lone pelican on the glassy bay in the top photo? We don't have ibises, but I startled a snowy egret in the pampas grass when I was trying to get a closer shot of the birds on the still water. I was too startled myself to take a photo of the great white bird before it disappeared in the fog.
